Between December 17–29, the Government of Cameroon denied reports of suspension from the African Union. While congratulations continued following President Biya’s re-election, government action during this period focused on regional elections and budget planning for FY 2026. The major highlight was a meeting between the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, and the President of the Cameroon Bar Council, during which discussions covered the post-electoral context, detainee conditions, and alleged violations by security forces. Atanga Nji formally transmitted official statistics on deaths and arrests linked to post-electoral unrest. Economic pressures persisted, with fuel prices rising in rural communities, while social unrest and protests were reported in Mutengene, Tiko, and Buea following prolonged power outages.
