About the workshop
The Nkafu Policy Institute of the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation is organizing a two-day intensive training workshop on scientific writing and publication, aiming to improve the scientific writing and publishing skills of young academics, researchers and professionals. The workshop is specifically designed to enable participants to:
- Write high standard research papers
- Master the editorial and peer review processes
- Learn how to efficiently manage references
- Pitch their research for different audiences
- Understand ethical issues and good practices related to scientific publication

This workshop is intended but not limited to:
- Master and PhD students
- Recent PhD graduates
- Researchers with public and private organisations
- Professionals involved with research-related activities
Course delivery
Combination of concise presentations, interactive discussions, and hands-on exercises.
Registration
Once selected to join this special training program, participants shall pay a registration fee.
- XAF 15,000 for students
- XAF 30,000 for non-students.
The number of participants is limited to 25 and some targeted participants may receive sponsorships.
Payment: Once selected, participants can pay via Mtn Mobile Money, Eventbrite, cash, bank transfer or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, and PayPal). All bank charges and commissions are the responsibility of the participant. On-site payment is not allowed.
Attendees are encouraged to provide drafts of abstracts or manuscripts they would like critiqued, and they will be given opportunity to discuss it with a faculty member.
As part of the training program, candidates will receive training materials during the 2 days.
Selection Process and Timeline
- February 9, 2026: Online application opens.
- April 30, 2026: Application deadline.
- May 4 – 8, 2026: Review and selection of successful applicants.
- May 11, 2026: Notice and announcement of selected candidates.
- May 27 – 28, 2026: Scientific and Manuscripts Writing Course in Yaoundé.
Scholarship Application
The foundation offers a scholarship to sponsor 5 free seats for the training.
Eligibility criteria
- Be a student at Master or PhD level
- Demonstrate a strong motivation to attend the course
- Submit a recent, unpublished paper or conference abstract: It should contain all the following elements: Introduction, Material and methods, Results, Conclusion, Key words.
