Virtual Launch of the Global Surgery Advocacy Fellowship

Share this:

The Global Surgery Advocacy Fellowship is a joint one-year non-residential fellowship by Operation Smile, the University of Global Health Equity and the Nkafu Policy Institute. The goal of the fellowship is to identify and train global surgery leaders that are based in low- and middle-income countries in policy and advocacy skills to be passionate, compassionate, and skilled advocates for surgical and anesthesia care within their communities and globally. This includes providing year-round training on grassroots advocacy skills (campaign mobilizing, media engagement, op-ed writing), mentorship from experienced advocates and additional network. The official launch of the fellowship is a one-hour program being curated by the fellowship organization partners, for the global health and global surgery general audience. Our goal is to build awareness about the power of grassroots advocacy and its role in increasing the prioritization of surgical and anesthesia care in national and international global health policies. At this inaugural launch, we will also be announcing the five inaugural fellows that have been selected from five countries in Africa and Latin America
