The success of an organization depends on the effectiveness of its leadership and management. Leadership involves setting a vision, inspiring others, and steering the organization toward achieving its goals. Management excellence ensures that this vision is executed efficiently, with resources optimized and processes streamlined.  Effective leadership and strategic management are vital for navigating the complexities of modern organizations. This is particularly crucial in regions facing unique challenges, such as the ECCAS (Economic Community of Central African States) region.

In the ECCAS region, where issues such as poor governance, human rights abuses, armed conflicts, and transnational crime are prevalent, robust leadership and management are even more critical, think tanks in this region must not only address internal challenges but also contribute to broader societal stability and progress.

Think tanks play a pivotal role in shaping public policy, fostering open debates, and advocating for critical issues such as the rule of law, human rights, and sustainable conflict resolution. Nevertheless, these think tanks face enormous challenges such as leadership gaps, poor management practices, complex and restrictive regulatory environments, limited access to technology, infrastructural deficiencies

In this light, the Nkafu Policy Institute think tank of the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation is organizing the Executive and Strategic Leadership Program on August 19 & 20 in Yaounde, Cameroon. The primary objective of the Executive and Strategic Leadership Program is to sustain the leadership and effective management of think tanks and CSOs in the Central African Region. Specifically, the program aims to:

  • Strengthen Strategic Management Capacity: Equip think tanks with the skills to produce high-quality research and influence policy, enhancing democracy and governance.
  • Enhance Leadership and Research Capacity: Focus on developing the capabilities of think tank researchers, with particular attention to women, to conduct impactful research and policy advocacy.
  • Expand Visibility and Reach: Increase the prominence and influence of think tanks in Central Africa.

The program is open to think tank leaders, Civil Society Organizations, and independent research centers in Central Africa. This program offers an invaluable opportunity to gain insights from leading experts in strategic management and leadership, enhance their research and advocacy skills, expand their professional networks and contribute to the development of sustainable solutions for regional challenges.

The Executive and Strategic Leadership Program will feature a blend of keynote presentations, workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in conversations with policymakers, brainstorm solutions to regional challenges, and build networks with other leaders and experts.
