Violet is an Eminent Gender Expert working for ensuring Gender equality in fragile settings, social and economic development in Cameron. She has secured Ph.D. in Political Economy, Diploma in Public Management, MSc in Women and Gender Studies with BSc in Political Science. Ms. Fokum has more than 10 years of significant professional consulting experience in Gender Based violence (GBV) with specialization in gender analysis, gender mainstreaming and the promotion of women’s rights and nondiscrimination activities. She is a Lecturer at The University of Bamenda and doubles as the Executive Director of the Center for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa. She has conducted research on GBV in Emergencies, Addressing GBV in Emergencies to facilitate planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of inter-agency GBV initiatives and provided teaching on the courses around women in politics, public policies, gender and peacebuilding, women land rights/use of natural resources, gender in conflict, and gender sensitive budgeting with data analysis and reporting.
