Call for Application – Accountant

The Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation has as mission to catalyze Africa’s economic transformation by focusing on social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health and the implementation of progressive policies that together creates economic opportunities for all.

The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation seeks to recruit an experienced Accountant to oversee general book keeping and accounting operations. This fulltime position will be based in Yaounde.

Expectations of the Accountant

· Payroll management;

· CNPS & Tax declaration and payment;

· Prepares grant financial reports and project monitoring sheet;

· Upload bank and cash transactions into Quickbooks;

· Prepare annual budgets and financial reports;

· Review Journal entries and codes;

· Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports;

· Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options;

· Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports;

· Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents;

· Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures;

· Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions;

· Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information;

· Secures financial information by completing database backups;

· Maintains financial security by following internal controls;

· Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements;

· Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations;

· Perform physical verification of Assets at least once per year to ensure that all assets are accurately recorded and coded;

· Performs other accounting related tasks in collaboration with the Operations Manager.

Qualification/ skills required

· Good knowledge of Quickbooks;

· Accounting;

· Reporting Skills;

· Attention to Detail;

· Deadline-Oriented;

· Confidentiality;

· Time Management.

Education and Experience Required

· Bilingual candidates (English and French) preferred

· Bachelor’s degree in, accounting, or finance;

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting/finance. (Preferably in NGO);

· Experience with financial reporting requirements;

· Experience in working with multiple donors;

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

· Ability to lead and motivate a small team would be an advantage;

· Willingness to re-locate to Yaounde
