Dr. Ngo Valery Ngo is a Medical Doctor and a Senior Health Researcher at Nkafu Policy Institute, a think tank at the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Before his appointment, he was a volunteer research assistant under Professor Bright Nwaru at the Krefting Research Centre in Gothenburg, Sweden, during which he conducted various researches in global health and contributed to various systematic reviews to synthesize existing evidence on major global health issues. Between 2012 and 2018, Dr. Ngo worked as a clinician at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Keffi, Nasarawa State, Nigeria, and rose to the position of senior medical officer and chief resident in charge of training. At FMC Keffi, he worked in different clinical departments, including surgery, medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, clinical hematology, accident, and emergency. He also coordinated the HIV/AIDS program at Innovative Biotechnology in Keffi, Nasarawa State, Nigeria.

He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in 2011 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and was recruited as a clinician by the Federal Government of Nigeria following an impeccable housemanship (internship) practice at the FMC Keffi. After about six years in clinical practice, Dr. Ngo was awarded a scholarship by the Swedish Government through the Swedish Institute (SI) to study global health at the University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden. While in Sweden, he gained tremendous knowledge, training and experience in global health, global governance, biostatistics, health policy, health care system, epidemiology, quantitative and qualitative research methods, disease prevention and control.

He is a Swedish Institute Scholarship Alumni and has served in numerous leadership positions, including being the chairman of the Swedish Institute Network of Future Global Leader (NFGL), Chairman of National Union of Cameroon Student (NUCS) Nigeria, research group coordinator of the young African research network, Audit and electoral committee chairman of the association of resident doctors (ARD), Keffi, Nigeria, etc. He is a registered physician with the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council (MDCN) and the Cameroon Medical Council (CMC). Dr. Ngo’s research interests include global health, global governance, health policy, armed conflict, health care system, reproductive health, maternal and child health, emergency preparedness and disaster management. Dr. Ngo has published different peer-review papers in high-impact journals across various sectors of the global economy, including conflict, vaccination, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, health insurance, traditional medicine, climate change, irrational drug use, and antimicrobial resistance.
