1. Signs and Symptoms

The signs and symptoms may appear after an incubation period of 2-14 days. There include:

  • Respiratory symptoms,
  • Cough,
  • Fever,
  • Breathing difficulties
  • and shortness of breath.

Severe cases of the disease may lead to pneumonia and even death.

2. What to do if you are sick?

  • Call the relevant health services (See contact numbers for Cameroon below). Decision to stay at home or go to a health institution should be taken together with qualified health personnel.
  • When coughing or sneezing use a mask or cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or use the inside of your elbow. Throw all used tissues in a closes trash and immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
